Consecutive interpreter: takes notes when the speaker speaks and starts translating after a few minutes when the speaker pauses. This mode requires no special equipment but lengthens the event time and, of course, is suitable when translation is only required in one language.
Simultaneous interpreter: translates as the speaker speaks. At a physical meeting, he/she is usually isolated in a booth and listens to the speaker from a headset. Simultaneous translation is extremely effective, fast and immediate.
Whispered interpreter: a simultaneous interpreter who speaks softly, close to the user, without a headset or microphone. Suitable for example in a crowded setting when you have at most two people who need the translation.
What equipment is needed for simultaneous translation?

- mobile simultaneous translation equipment (e.g., for guided tours, or for a few participants)
- if remote: interpreters connect on digital platforms (Zoom, Webex, MS Teams…)
